This day center welcomes 64 people. The current buildings were acquired by the Asbl as its activities developed and the center capacity increased.
They were, at the time of their construction, not built to accommodate dlsabled people or people with reduced mobility. Moreover, the energy efficiency of these buildings is very poor.
The Asbl has received the agreement in principle of the Cocof for its project
which should allow the construction of a new space. The total budget was estimated at €4.500.000.
We have received a very large amount from an important foundation. A significant help from Cap 48 is already acquired and we have already found all of our important contribution.
The preliminary project file has been approved by the administration of Cocof and by the Minister-President,
Cocof's administration, and the application for planning permission, amended at the request of the commune of Ixelles was also been approved.
The total cost of the project had risen to €5,2100,000 due to the increase in construction costs. We had already increased our support to reflect inflation.
And as there was no increase in the number of places, the previous government was able to give approval to the project before the summer of 2025, which did allow us to launch the calls for tender.
The call for tenders was launched and received with a revised estimate on our part of €5,200,000 for the cost of construction and renovation of the current premises.
Unfortunately , the tender process revealed bids that exceeded our estimate by €1,000,000 in the best case !!!!
We have obtained approval to launch a negotiated procedure, which concluded very successfully.
The project will be saved thanks to the mobilisation of funds from the non-profit organisation La Forestière, as well as reductions achieved in construction costs. Indeed, the final negotiations took place in March and were very positive.
The final dossier was sent to the Cocof at the end of April. One document remains to be submitted, and the dossier will be forwarded to the minister for final approval in mid-June. Construction
is expected to begin in autumn 2026.
